Shiftfillers' CEO has one of those journeys that inspire us to success.
Drew Golin has exemplified servant leadership throughout his life, starting with his education at Temple University in Philadelphia. As a Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management major, he earned a full scholarship through his work as the Men’s Basketball Team Manager.
It was in this role that he had the life-changing experience of working directly with legendary Hall of Fame Head Coach, John Chaney - renowned not only for being a basketball icon but also a visionary. Chaney sought to change lives through teamwork and service, and he recruited many of his players from neighborhoods that struggled with violence and poverty.
Their work together had major personal and professional implications; as Drew shared, “He taught me to dream big, learn, and serve.”
Drew took these learnings and married them with his empathy, integrity, professionalism, and desire to work his way into a position that would allow him to help others.
It’s no coincidence that Drew eventually founded a company centered around warehouse positions: during and after college, he worked as a delivery helper, selector, cold storage pickers, and many other warehouse-based positions. In these roles, he came to understand the challenges of recruiting people and moved into entrepreneurship alongside his wife. The duo ran a staffing business focused on hourly roles for over 18 years, where Drew was able to build a culture around the values Chaney and previous teams imparted in earlier years. Drew’s focus on operational excellence, teamwork, and high quality standards eventually led to his company’s acquisition.
Always looking for his next challenge, Drew found his next opportunity in his old roots: warehouse work. His years of professional experience and strong personal values came together in launching Shiftfillers, a tech-powered warehouse staffing platform, alongside a group of notable entrepreneurs. His mission now lies in removing the friction between employers and employees, improving safety and efficiency at work, and leveraging technology to better service a workforce that has been commoditized for decades.
When asked about what motivates him each morning, Drew shared, “I’m passionate about playing my role in the world to make things better. I have been inspired by amazing innovators to solve problems and dream big!”
